Thank you for posting this. I have heard this argument, but not with such depth. One thing i do wrestle with when it comes to Numbers 23:19 is when Moses interceded for the people at Mt. Sinai in Ex. 32:14 and a simliar situatiin with Noah in Gen. 6. To make a long story short, for now i have come to the conclusion that both of these scenarios where the Lord "repented" demonstrated His desire to be intimate with His people. Both times, Moses and Noah were chosen people by Yahweh during critical times in God's judgement (first in the flood then in the Exodus) just to show His more guarded nature of being an intimate God for whomever would humble themselves before their Creator. It's like once that kind of love is injected into the scene, the image of our God becomes clearer as we m our very capable bridegroom, deeply desiring to show Himself strong to leaders like Moses and Noah. Which to me, gives me hope that maybe God desires to be as close to me as He was to Moses, if only i could be as humble (if that could even be possible). However, not a bad goal in my mind! I dont claim to have it figured out, just thought to share the back-of-my-mind musings! Blessings!
